Beckmen Vineyards Tasting Room
Wine Tasting at Beckmen Vineyards in a journey in itself. Even though, it is easy to find, and you are just a few minutes from town; at Beckmen Vineyards you may as well be hours away at a remote location in a different era.
After lunch is a good time to visit Beckmen Vineyards, a short drive from santa Ynez and about 2 miles from downtown Los Olivos. Once on the property you will immediately feel like you are in a special place. Well manicured vines, a nice pond, gazebo, and a friendly looking barn welcome you to their tasting room where award winning Syrah, Grenache, and other Rhones await your arrival.
Tom and Steve Beckmen have committed themselves to the development of the Santa Barbara County wine region. Purchasing a 40 acre property in the Santa Yney Valley in the early 90’s, the Beckmen’s revitalized the site by replanting all 16 acres of grape vines with hand selected clones, rootstocks, and varietals. They would go on to purchase another property, an unplanted 236 acre parcel that they named Purisma Mountain. This Vineyard is now widely known as one of California’s great Rhone-varietal vineyards. The Beckmen Vineyards wines are outstanding. The Syrah and Grenache from the Purisima Mountain Vineyard are of very high quality. They Block 6 Syrah is made from a single hand picked block of the vineyard that showed so much promise, it earned it’s own label, it is also the very first block that was farmed biodynamicaly. The Purisma Mountain Grenache is a standout, especially if you like robust cherry and boysenberry flavors. The Sauvignon Blanc’s are some of our favorites from the area.
The Beckmen Vineyard tasting room is also highly recommended by local winery’s staff members. That should tell you something. This is a great place to go if you are not in a hurry, if you have a friend who has never been to SB Wine Country, or if you have never tasted Syrah. Enjoy your visit, enjoy the wines.
