Anacapa, is comprised mostly of Cabernet Franc (75%), but also of Merlot (20%) and Petit Verdot (5%). Our Anacapa captures aromas of star anise, rose petals and coffee bean with flavors of black cherry, dried cranberry, cocoa and the beautiful texture of lush, velvety tannins.
The grapes for our 2006 Anacapa came from our own estate vineyard, as well as Lucas and Bien Nacido vineyards
After the grapes were removed from their stems, they were cold-soaked and then fermented in small, open-top bins; the must was punched down by hand twice a day. The wine was then aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, of which 59% were new barrels.
The wine was bottled without filtration on February 15, 2008, with only 420 cases being produced.
